We are offering an ACTION PAINTING experience!
Have you always wanted to try Abstract Expressionism but don’t have the space, materials and most importantly someone to guide you in the HOW and the WHY?
As part of the fundraiser for Tonglen, we are setting up a chance for up to 8 “students” to cut loose on their own large canvas in the barn at the Stone Pony during the day on Saturday, April 29th. For around $100 Ryan will provide a big canvas, water based paint and brushes, adult refreshments and expert instruction via Mercer University Painting Professor and Philosopher Eric Michael O’Dell who speaks thusly:
“This is physical, requiring the body as much as color and line. The subject is the interior landscape, to match a spiritual rhythm through intentional as well as accidental application of paint. We’ll try to open this door and then help each other figure out the map as we go. Poetry, music, eyes closed and hands alive… all are access points.
Once in, let’s have some! We’ll push color around, see how lines land, figure out what areas to re-work and which ones to leave alone. We’ll get paint on the canvas, some on ourselves, each other, and hopefully along the borders of the mysterious edges of who we are.”
